wanna join the slow club?

Slow down.

Literally.

We've been doing this for a week now. Have you taken a moment to just stop and marinate in any of the wondering we've been exploring together?

Because this moment, and all of the ones before it, were full of so much more than you thought.

Literally.

We're talking about intellectual health today. My guess is you think that means we're going to spend a few minutes on how to think the proper way.

Nah. Instead...

"Slow down."

When you hear someone say that to you, what is your typical reaction?

How about when you're the one to say it to someone else? What are you feeling in that specific moment?

Perhaps it depends on who you say it to and how loudly you say it.

"Slow down."

What about saying it to yourself?

Slowing down requires a thought to do so. It doesn't mean you need to stop, but that you are being purposeful about your pace.

That's another one for my top ten list of things I don't regret about the past decade.

5. I don't regret slowing down multiple times in my day, week, month and year.

I like silencing my phone when I go to bed... not taking a call when I'm hanging out with my kids.... stopping any typing I'm doing on my laptop to pay attention when someone walks into my office.... taking a day off and doing whatever I can to honor it... making my schedule allow me to have at least one meal a day with my family.

And yet... I sometimes stumble in this. Research tells us slowing down is one of the most productive things we could do. So why instead of living as human BEings we run around as human DOings?

"Slow down."

One of my friends shared about how his son taught him the value of slowing down... he called it joining "the slow club."

Watch this video about it, and then discern what the implications are for your own life. In fact, I dare you to slow down and write down those implications out versus just mentally nod through it.

After all, a life that marinades has way more flavor to it than a life that microwaves.

Slow down... what do you "think" about that?

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.'" - Jesus, Matthew 11:28
